Unleashed by Petco Donating $1,500 to Humane Society Saturday

The new store in Hinsdale is celebrating its grand opening and ribbon cutting Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Hinsdale's new pet-supply store is celebrating its grand opening Saturday morning with a ribbon cutting and a donation to the Hinsdale Humane Society.

Unleashed by Petco, which opened last month in the old Blockbuster space at 30 S. Lincoln St., will present the humane society with a $1,500 check during the 9 a.m. grand-opening ceremony.

"Through this donation, Unleashed by Petco hopes to find loving forever homes for local pets in need, as well as help Hinsdale Humane Society continue to encourage compassionate treatment of animals and be the voice for companion animals," the business said in a release sent to Patch.

The Hinsdale Humane Society put out a release of their own on the donation they'll accept.

"We are excited for the opening of this great new pet store in our community," Executive director Lori Halligan said. "The donation they will be presenting to us will go a long way toward caring for our homeless animals, and we greatly appreciate their support."

Unleashed by Petco will host a Sunday meet-and-greet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where a free brunch will be served. There will be promotional events going on the weekends of Dec. 14 and Dec. 21, as well.

"Special activities will include free giveaways, pet adoption events and a special pet photo booth, amongst others," the Unleashed release reads.
