Hinsdale Woman Selected for People’s ‘Most Beautiful’ Issue

"I just think beauty is about being happy and being who you are," Courtney McCarthy says.


“Your body makes you sexy, your face makes you pretty, but your mind makes you beautiful.”

Those are the words that Courtney McCarthy tries to impart to her two young daughters. The Hinsdale resident and former marketing executive was chosen over 15,000 entrants for for People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful” issue.

The 40-year-old McCarthy submitted her photo to People as a lark with her sister, she told ABC 7. In addition to the stars the magazine features every year, People was looking for submissions for its third annual “Real Beauty At Any Age.”

She was shocked when she was chosen among the nation’s real beauties to represent the 40- age group.

McCarthy feels the most beautiful when she’s laughing and being with her family and friends, she told ABC 7.

"I just was myself, I gave very real honest answers about myself," she said. "I didn't try to be anyone else."

Her photo shoot, featured in this week’s People, is on racks at the supermarket now.
