Hinsdale South Grad Says Peace Corps Work in Africa Puts Worries in Perspective

The Darien woman teaches in a small village in Burkina Faso.

Hinsdale South High School graduate Rebecca Ehlers, of Darien, says her work in Burkina Faso for the Peace Corps during the last year has helped her grow as a person.

“People do Peace Corps at all different times in their lives, but for me it sort of feels like an extension of my education, something that will prepare me to be stronger and have a greater understanding of myself and the world around me,” she told reporter Danny Ciamprone.

Her work as a teacher in a small village of 1,700 people was recently featured in Suburban Life.
