Books & Brunch

Authors Marcus Sakey, Luis Urrea and Melanie Benjamin will discuss their novels on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the 15th annual Books & Brunch, a literary-inspired fundraiser for Assistance League of Chicagoland West.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. so guests can meet the authors and purchase books. A wine auction is new to this year’s event, which includes a 30-vendor boutique, silent auction, raffle baskets and a luncheon presentation hosted by NBC5 newscaster Dick Johnson.

Hinsdale-based ALCW was formed in 1995 and is one of 120 Assistance League chapters nationwide.  Member volunteers provide coats, hats and gloves for students in need, literacy backpacks for low income children and essential kitchen equipment for families moving from transitional housing to independent living, all in DuPage and western Cook County.
