The sudden death of an Indiana University freshman from Clarendon Hills likely garnered the most community reaction of any Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Patch story in 2013.

Abigail Bott, 18, was found dead in her Bloomington, IN, dorm room on the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 6, under what appeared to be non-suspicious circumstances.

The day after Bott's death, there was an outpouring of memories and well wishes to the Bott family on social media, and her family put out a statement expressing their sadness and asking for prayers.

IU students honored Bott by hanging ribbons around her dorm. One candlelight vigil for Bott was held in Bloomington, and another was held near her home in Clarendon Hills.

The Monroe County Coroner's Office released the cause of death in November, after determining the Hinsdale Central grad who was planning on graduating in 2017 died of an accidental overdose not involving alcohol.
