Nuclear Waste Public Meeting

Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Public Meeting on Nuclear Waste

Illinois is the nation's nuclear waste dump.
We have more high level radioactive waste from nuclear energy production than any other state in the nation. We also have the most operating nuclear reactors. Around the nation and in Illinois ALL nuclear waste produced over the last 30 years or so is stored on-site at the nuclear facilities because the federal government has not provided a final geologic repository for nuclear waste in over 30 years.
