That evening, local shopkeepers will remain open to greet their customers and guests to celebrate the holiday season. The festivities will also include the Radio Disney Road Crew, an ice carver, holiday carolers, a children’s trackless train, decorated holiday trees, giveaways, animated holiday characters, Santa’s arrival by firetruck and the annual tree lighting ceremony in Burlington Park. Once again,  the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Radio Disney to launch their National campaign "A Festival of Giving" in Hinsdale on the night of the Walk. Radio Disney is embracing their third annual “Festival of Giving” in over 30 markets by bringing multiple charities together the first weekend in December to create a convenient way for kids and families to help others this holiday season. Nationally, all 31 “Festival of Giving” Radio Disney events will have a variety of organizations on-site to take donations.   In Hinsdale we will be taking donations on December 6th for Toys for Tots (unwrapped toys)  the Autism Society of America, The Northern Illinois Food Bank, and Bernie's Book Bank which will collect gently used books for needy children.  In addition, we will continue collecting children's books for Bernie's Book Bank until December 20th at  Prospect School (130 N. Prospect-Clarendon Hills), Fixe Self Center (18 W. First St., Hinsdale)  and the Hinsdale Public Library (20 E. Maple St., Hinsdale).  Bins will be on site in each of these locations for book donations.
Radio Disney’s Project Family initiative, inspiring families to spend time together in an effort to make a lasting, positive change at home, in their community and the world at large. In addition the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce will once again present “Hinsdale’s Storybook Village – A Gingerbread’s Tale”. Over 30 jumbo storybooks will be on display in local participating businesses from December 6th - December 31st. While shopping in Hinsdale's specialty shops and boutiques through December, you can stroll through this historic downtown and surround yourself with the warmth and traditional spirit of the holidays. Merchants in the village will display Gingerbread storybooks in their storefronts, showcasing “Cookie” the Gingerbread Man’s adventures in Hinsdale.
