CH CO2 to give away worms at Park District Fall Festival!

The footprint at the corner of Prospect and Burlington may be gone but the Clarendon Hills Carbon Footprint Project - CH CO2 - is just beginning.

CH CO2 will continue to bring its message of sustainability and environmental awareness in a fun and interactive way at the Clarendon Hills Park District Fall Festival on Saturday, September 21st from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at Prospect Park.

Visitors to the CH CO2 booth may enter to win a rain barrel, learn about worm composting, and even get their own worms to take home.  Information on how to order and install a rain barrel will be available.

In addition, representatives from SCARCE (School & Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education) will have an educational Water Shed Model.  Visitors will be able to see how important rain gardens and bio swales help slow the flow of storm water, reduce flooding and reduce pollution into aquifers.  SCARCE will also be happy to collect batteries for recycling all through the afternoon.

The volunteers at CH CO2 would like feedback from residents about their educational initiatives.  Everyone is invited to fill out a suggestion form at the booth with ideas on how the organization can most effectively accomplish its mission.

CH CO2 is an all-volunteer non-profit organization under the auspices of the Clarendon Hills Park District Foundation that supports the community with environmental education to reduce our individual and collective carbon footprints.  For more information, log on to www.clarendonhills.us/sustainability.cfm or visit our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/CHCO2 .
