A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday in both Cook and DuPage counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds consistently between 25 mph and 35 mph are expected to continue throughout the afternoon, according to the advisory, and gusts will occassionally exceed 45 mph.
"Winds this strong can cause minor property damage unless precautions are taken," the advisory reads while noting that driving can be difficult for high-profile vehicles. "Motorists should be alert and use caution."
Monday morning at 9:50 a.m., a semi truck carrying hazardous materials rolled over on I-90 exit ramp near Dundee Road in the northwest suburbs, according to a release from Illinois State Police.
The release said winds were believed to be a factor in the rollover. No hazardous materials were leaked, but the truck's driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
