Village of Hinsdale Gives No Timeframe for Power Outage

ComEd cited "major damage" to important equipment and downed trees in power lines as causes for the delayed restoration.

The following was posted on the Village of Hinsdale website earlier this afternoon:

In response to the storm incident on Tuesday evening, June 21, the Village of Hinsdale is in regular communication with Commonwealth Edison regarding the restoration of power to residents. ComEd has informed us of major damage to equipment that must be repaired. Their crews are also responding to reports of downed trees in power lines. Due to the severity of the damage, they cannot provide an exact time for power restoration until the full extent of the damage has been ascertained. ComEd prioritizes their restoration based upon the ability to restore large areas at a time. Once large areas are restored, ComEd will begin restoring smaller localized outages caused by tree damage. The Village will continue to receive updates and will provide this information to residents.

The Village of Hinsdale Public Service crews are working diligently to clean up the large volume of downed trees and limbs throughout the Village as a result of the severe weather. Residents that have damage to private trees can place the tree debris on the parkway and Village crews will remove it as soon as we can. Please note that it is anticipated this project may take an extended period of time to complete. Village crews will chip all materials collected for future distribution to residents as mulch when the emergency cleanup is complete.
