TUESDAY

Photography Program at Clarendon Hills Library—Clarendon Hills Public Library, 7 p.m.

The Clarendon Hills Public Library is hosting a photography workshop Tuesday night led by veteran Chicago Tribune photojournalist John Dziekan.

"Audience members will learn how to be more creative and resourceful in the way they capture their images," the event's Patch listing reads. "John also stresses that it is not necessary to have a lot of expensive equipment to take great photos."

WEDNESDAY

Glitzy Girlz Idol Night—Clarendon Hills Middle School, 6 p.m.

Girls ages 6 to 11 will have a chance to become "stylish performers" Wednesday night. A talent show and competition will also take place.

"Wear your favorite glam outfit and bring along a few friends for this class!  Each girl receives a rock diva gift bag as a souvenir, and the winner of the talent show will take home a special prize," the event's Patch listing reads. 

Advance registration at the Community Center, 315 Chicago Avenue, is required. Participation costs $38 for residents and $48 for non-residents. 

FRIDAY

Winter Container Class—Vern Goers Greenhouse, 1 p.m.

As temperatures fall, Vern Goers Greenhouse in Hinsdale is hosting a free class that will keep your green thumb busy all winter.

"Learn how to create beautiful fresh greens arrangements and centerpieces that will last throughout the season and add a festive touch for the holidays," the event's Patch listing reads. 

The event is free, and you can reserve a spot ahead of time by calling 630-323-1085. The class also takes place Saturday at 10 a.m.

SATURDAY

A Very Victorian Thanksgiving—Hinsdale Historical Society, 

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Hinsdale Historical Society is giving familes a look at what Thanksgiving was like in the Victorian era. 

"Appropriate for ages 5 and up, this children’s program will begin with 'An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving,' a film based on a short story by Louisa May Alcott," the event's Patch listing reads. "Afterwards, families will enjoy a tour of the Museum to learn more about how Thanksgiving was celebrated in the Victorian era."

Thanksgiving Grand Wine Tasting—The Village Cellar, 1 p.m.

After you drop your kids off at home following the history lesson above, visit The Village Cellar in Hinsdale to sample all kinds of wine you may want to serve during the upcoming holiday season.

"Over 60 wines to taste! Reds, whites, sparkling wines... Just $5 for the tasting," the event's Patch listing reads.

The event runs from 1 p.m to 5 p.m.

5th Annual Burr Ridge Jingle Mingle—Burr Ridge Village Center, 4:30 p.m.

The Downtown Burr Ridge Events Planning Committee, Burr Ridge Village Center and Burr Ridge Park District present the annual pre-holiday party that will feature a parade, horse-drawn carriages, face painting, and all sorts of other activities.

"Santa Claus is coming to town to kick-off the holiday season at the fifth annual Jingle Mingle on Saturday, November 17, from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.," the event's Patch listing reads. "Bring the family, meet your neighbors and friends, and get ready for festive fun at this much-loved annual event."
