Heat Advisory in Effect for DuPage County

The National Weather Service says the advisory is in effect until 8 p.m.

A heat advisory is in effect for DuPage County until 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to reach 96 degrees and heat index values will touch 107.

The heat advisory went into effect at 10 a.m.

Take extra precautions when outside Tuesday, the NWS suggests.

"Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening," the advisory read. "Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke."

The NWS recommends drinking plenty of water, staying in air-conditioned spaces, and checking on elderly neighbors.
