Great Gatsby Theme Set for HJWC's 2013 Gala

The organization's annual benefit will take place Feb. 9 and raise money for Hephzibah Children's Association in Oak Park.

Casino games and cabaret singers, flappers and fortune-telling—the Roaring '20s will return for one night next month when the Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club (HJWC) holds its 2013 benefit with a Great Gatsby theme.

The Gatsby Gala will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook. The $125-per-person event will benefit Hephzibah Children's Association, a group home and foster placement nonprofit organization in Oak Park.

TICKETS are still for sale on the HJWC website.

With the latest movie-version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby set for a May release, it's the perfect time for a Roaring '20s theme.

"The event will be black-tie optional and include a fun evening of casino, cabaret singing and flapper dance performances, wandering entertainers, fortune telling, open bar and more," HJWC co-chair Christine Cuthbert said in an email. "As guests arrive they'll enter Gatsby's mansion and explore a night of luxury and shenanigans."

"And bring your dancing shoes!" the HJWC website says. We'll be shimmying to everything from the Charleston to modern hits."

VIP tickets are $300, and those attendees will have access to private lounge seating and a private wait staff. The 100 VIP attendees will also be entered into a special raffle that will give away one seven-day vacation in Maui.

"We'll also have a ton of amazing packages in our live and silent auction," Cuthbert said.

The HJWC expects 400 to 500 attendees.

"The HJWC benefit is probably the biggest event in the area," Cuthbert said.
