Five Things You Should Know for Tuesday, Aug. 23

Keep the week rolling with a few important items from Patch.

1. The National Weather Service is forecasting a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day Tuesday. The temperature will reach 84 degrees and wind gusts will reach 20 mph. Tuesday night, the chance of precipitation increases to 50 percent and the temperature will drop down to around 70 degrees.

2. The Economic Development Commission meets Tuesday night at Memorial Hall. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. See the full agenda here.

4. This morning on Patch is a recap of Monday night's District 181 Board of Education meeting, where teachers arrived en masse to show solidarity in the midst of stalled collective bargaining negotiations with the board. It became clear Monday night that teacher salaries are the biggest sticking point between the two sides.
