Five Things You Should Know for Thursday, June 30

June is already over? What's the deal?

1. A pleasant Thursday should make it three great days in a row, weather-wise. Weather.com is forecasting sunny skies early in the day with some clouds moving in during the afternoon. The high temperature will be 85 degrees. (The UV index for Thursday is "very high." See .) Overnight, there's a 30 percent chance of storms and temps will drop to around 70 degrees.

2. The third edition of the 2011 Uniquely Thursday series in Hinsdale's will feature the music of Piano Man, a tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John. (How can you say no?) The event, as always, runs 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

3. This morning on Patch: A meeting of the Oak Street Bridge Community Working Group took place Wednesday night at KLM Park Lodge and Patch was there. Get a quick recap of the get-together here.

4. For all the singles out there 21 and older, Topaz Restaurant is holding a Date-and-Dash Speed Dating event Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. Get more info here.

5. On June 30, 1972, the first "leap second" (think: leap year) was added to keep the Coordinated Universal Time on track. It's complicated. Just know that the last leap second was in 2008 and that this Wikipedia article explains it well.
