Five Things You Should Know for Monday, Aug. 22

Get the week started right with a few important items from Patch.

1. Quick weather forecast for Monday: the National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies with a high of 81 degrees. Monday night, skies will be mostly clear and the temp will drop to a low of 62 degrees.

2. The school board has a special meeting scheduled for Monday night at at 7:30 p.m. Downers Grove Township assessor Theresa Cockrell will be on hand to discuss the Property Tax Appeal Board and whether the district should be involved in tax-appeal cases. (See for background.) 

3. Also Monday, the District 181 school board meets at 7 p.m. at Elm School. See the meeting's agenda here.

5. The Zoning and Public Safety Committee meets Monday night at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Notable on the night's agenda is the consideration of a text amendment that, among other things, adjusts building density rules. The amendment must be approved in order for .
