Five Things You Should Know for Friday, Sept. 16

The weekend is upon us and Patch has the info you need to start it off right.

1. The National Weather Service is predicting mostly cloudy skies Friday during the day with a high temperature near 61 degrees. Friday night, skies will be partly cloudy and the low will drop into the mid 40s.

2. Author Betty Birney, who wrote "The Seven Wonders of Sassafrass Springs," is stopping by  Friday 1:30 p.m. for a presentation mostly about her popular Humphrey book series. Parents are welcome.

3. Friday in Red Devils Sports: Girls Swimming at Downers North, 5 p.m..
