Five Things You Should Know for Friday, June 10

The weekend has arrived; here are the must-know items as it kicks off.

1. It's the last day to buy for the Lions Park Pool, 100 Byrd Ct. in Clarendon Hills. Early-bird individual passes are $135 for the summer and $265 for families. Family Plus passes include 10 daily guest passes and go for $305. Visit the Clarendon Hills Community Center, 315 Chicago Ave., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to purchase a pass. 

2. That pool is about to get packed. Friday is the last day of school for District 181 students and the first day of summer for District 86 students, who finished finals Thursday.

2. In just over 24 hours, the Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival begins in . The 38th annual Fine Arts Fair will showcase the work of 15o artists. It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

4. The rain continues, today. Weather.com is reporting a high of 79 degrees Friday with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. It looks like rain early, then in the afternoon (3 p.m. and on) it will turn into thunderstorms. 

5. On this day in 1977, Apple shipped its first Apple II personal computer. The company has come a long way. No it wants to build a spaceship building in Cupertino, Calif. (Courtesy of CNET.)
