2,500 Clarendon Hills Residents Without Power

Village does not expect power to be restored for two to four days; season-opening Dancin' in the Street concert is canceled.

The following is a release from the Village of Clarendon Hills:

On Tuesday evening, a severe storm with high winds swept through much of the Chicago area. The storm caused significant damage in Clarendon Hills, including downed trees and power lines.

ComEd has reported that there are approximately 2,500 customers without power in Clarendon Hills, which is a substantial portion of the Village. ComEd does not expect power to be restored for two to four days. Residents in need of air conditioning may visit the Police Station, Fire Department or Village Hall during operating hours.

The Public Works Department has worked to make streets passable. Any resident who is aware of a tree or large branch blocking a roadway or driveway should contact the Public Works Department at 630-286-4750. Residents should be aware of downed lines and assume that they are live. Downed lines should be reported to 9-1-1.

The Village is addressing parkway tree damage based on priority. The Village will provide branch collection services. Residents are asked to collect branches and pile them in the parkway for pick up. Please do not place branches or other debris in the street. Whole trees will not be collected. Residents are responsible for taking care of private trees that may have been damaged. Contractors hired by residents to work on private property trees must remove all debris resulting from their work. Due to the significant amount of tree damage and debris, the Village expects clean up to take several weeks.
