District 181 Offers Monthly Preschool Screenings

Community Consolidated School District 181 is continuing to conduct monthly preschool screenings during the 2013-14 school year. A screening is designed to identify any students who may need further evaluation and may be eligible for Early Childhood Education and/or for speech and language services. The purpose of the screening is related to Special Education and is for children who are 3, 4 or 5 years old and are experiencing difficulty in the following areas:

  • Cognitive Development
  • Speech and Language Skills
  • Gross and Fine Motor Skills
  • Vision and Hearing

A preschool screening is not intended as a screening for kindergarten admission. Only District 181 residents are eligible to receive this preschool screening. Preschool screenings are held at Oak School, located at 950 S. Oak Street in Hinsdale and take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Parents with concerns about their children’s development who wish to schedule an appointment should call Adrienne Renwick at 630-861-4302.

Remaining screening opportunities will be held on the following dates in 2014: April 21; May 5; and May 19.
