District 181 Board Approves Eric Chisausky as Next Walker School Principal

On May 20, 2013, the Community Consolidated School District 181 Board of Education approved the hiring of Eric Chisausky as the next Walker School Principal, effective July 1, 2013. 

Chisausky joined District 181 in the 2008-09 school year as the Assistant Principal of Clarendon Hills Middle School and helped to secure the school’s Blue Ribbon designation. He has been a District 181 Summer School administrator since 2011 and is a member of the District’s Literacy Committee and curriculum writing team, as well as a member of the Safety and Crisis Committee. Chisausky is also the SAT Coordinator for the West Suburban Consortium of Academic Excellence. 

Chisausky’s education includes a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Eastern Illinois University, with a minor in Creative Writing. He previously served as Assistant Principal for Gower Middle School in Burr Ridge (Gower School District 62) and was a Language Arts teacher in both Butler School District 53 and New Lenox School District 122.

“I am extremely honored to serve the students, parents, and staff of Walker School,” he said. “As the Assistant Principal of Clarendon Hills Middle School for the past five years, I have a great deal of respect for the Walker community and the passion for teaching its students to be enthusiastic learners. I look forward to developing strong relationships within the Walker community and to continue its reputation for excellence.  I also am very happy to continue to work with the community of Clarendon Hills Middle School.”

Chisausky’s wife Gwen is a reading specialist teacher in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202; they have has two sons, five year-old Colin and two year-old Liam. “Being a parent has really informed my impression about what we should all expect for our children of the elementary school experience and how we can work together to help our children thrive in the school environment,” Chisausky says.

Superintendent Dr. Renée Schuster commented, “With over 14 years of experience in education, Eric Chisausky brings a strong knowledge-base to the position of Walker School Principal. His years with Clarendon Hills Middle School have provided an opportunity to get to know many of our District families, and his work in curriculum will make him a strong educational leader.”
