Oak School Celebrates Opening of Outdoor Classroom
On August 24, Oak School students, staff and families gathered at the building's entrance to celebrate the grand opening of a newly installed outdoor classroom.
On August 24, Oak School students, staff and families gathered at the building's entrance to celebrate the grand opening of a newly installed outdoor classroom. As a designated area that can seat an entire class, the green space can provide hands-on learning opportunities to compliment what students are learning in their classrooms.
The space is protected by shade and can serve a multitude of other purposes, including a meeting area for teachers, parents, PTO and clubs. Electrical work for sound and Wi-Fi to allow for group instructional learning. In addition, the school's front entrance sidewalk was widened to help accommodate the entire student body for school-wide assemblies and events.
At the ribbon cutting, Oak School Principal Sean Walsh and PTO Co-President Sakeba Issa shared their thanks to the PTO leaders, District 181 Buildings and Grounds crew, Drescher Landscaping, and Oak families for their support of the project.
