Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills Middle School Students Perform in IMEA Festival

On November 3, 11 orchestra students from Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills Middle Schools performed in the Illinois Music Educators Association Junior High Division annual District I Music Festival.

On Saturday, November 3, eleven orchestra students from Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills Middle Schools performed in the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) Junior High Division annual District I Music Festival.  The festival, held at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Riverside, involved students selected from more than 60 schools throughout the southwestern metropolitan Chicago area.

The Festival Band, Orchestra, and Chorus presented a public festival concert. Appearing in the concert was a 100-member festival orchestra, a 150-member band, and a 150-member chorus.  The Hinsdale Middle School and Clarendon Hills Middle School orchestra musicians were selected to perform following September 29 auditions. Orchestra students performed under the leadership of guest conductor Richard Clark from Butler University.

Hinsdale Middle School students performing in the orchestra were: Chase Ackerson, violin, grade 7; Haerin Kim, violin, grade 8; Xinru Li, violin, grade 7; Katherine Seikel, violin, grade 7; Jake Semba, cello, grade 8; and Harrison Wang, violin, grade 8.  Clarendon Hills Middle School students performing were: Madison Andoniadis, violin, grade 8; Darren Chen, violin, grade 6; Nathan Cruz, cello, grade 7; Danny Kacey, cello, grade 7; and Erika Oku, violin, grade 8.
