District 181 Honors Ambassadors of Excellence

On Monday, October 22, the Community Consolidated School District 181 Board of Education presented Ambassador of Excellence Awards to 19 students and 2 staff members for their achievements.

On Monday, October 22, the Community Consolidated School District 181 Board of Education presented Ambassador of Excellence Awards to 19 students and 2 staff members for their achievements. The first student honoree was Clarendon Hills Middle School 7th grader Reilly Revord, who was the champion of the West Suburban Middle School Athletic Conference (WSMSAC) in cross country. Also honored were the Clarendon Hills Middle School 8th grade teams for cross country for earning 2nd place in the Orange division of the WSMSAC. Team members included: Abigail Berberich, Claire Brixie, Olivia Carter, Molly Caveney, Michael Chadwell, Allayna Gagnard, Molly Gasior, Isabella Ivanov, Ryan Jennings, Meera Krishnan, Nadia Mohideen, Jan Erik Naess, Luke Northey, Naman Patel, Owen Sarros, Jillian Schlais, Benjamin Schnieders, Brooke Secola, Elizabeth Storr.

Staff honorees were Ruth Jewell and Dan Ozga, P.E. teachers for The Lane School. They received the Highlight School Award from the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Northeastern District. The pair received the award in recognition of the “Parent P.E. Nights” program started in the 2011-12 school year. The Highlight Award is given to a school that demonstrates merit in any of the following categories: creative new ideas, techniques or teaching styles; promotion of health and wellness; methodology; innovative assessment tools for student knowledge and performance; innovative use of equipment and facility; connection to student diversity and population; community involvement and public relations; excitement displayed for something new; and a strong desire to share expertise.
