Savvy Hinsdale Turns 1 Year Old!

A year of growth, excitement and wonderful contributions, Hinsdale's women continue to log on and share.

A year ago my son John and I went to a play date with a few close friends. That afternoon, as we watched our babies play, my girlfriends and I discussed how great it would be to have some kind of online local resource for Hinsdale women to share information.

Finding a babysitter, looking for a reliable electrician or landscaper that hadn’t just placed an ad somewhere - but came with a personal recommendation from another woman in town – was what we were after.

As new moms we were busy. Having the ability to connect with others while also finding information on what’s happening in town and important to moms and women all in one place was an idea that was too good to be true. Given the fast pace of our lives these days the idea of catching up on the village happenings at the street corner with your neighbors is unfortunately somewhat of a rarity.

That afternoon, I went home and bought the domain www.SavvyHinsdale.com. And by our launch party a few weeks later, we were already getting anywhere from 6,000-10,000 hits a day.

Fast-forward 12 months and here we are today with more than 400 members contributing every day. It’s been exciting to watch, and one of the things I’m most proud of is the positive energy involved in Savvy. Our members have continued to focus on the good in our community and I believe that positive spirit is contagious. We've also been fortunate to connect with Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and offer our followers some amazing opportunities, including a free Infant/Child CPR and Choking Safety Class and an amazing Healthy Cooking Class.

Along with sharing community photos, events, humorous columns, recommendations and more, www.SavvyHinsdale.com also highlights women who play important roles in our community. This month we’re pleased to feature Stephanie Dillard, wife of our Senator Kirk Dillard (R-24). Stephanie was kind enough to answer our questions and give us a glimpse into the life of a political wife and partner. I encourage everyone to learn more about this multitasking woman.  And if you know someone who you think would make a great profile, email Christine@savvyhinsdale.com

I want to thank all those who have supported Savvy Hinsdale in its first year, and I look forward to all that is to come in year two!
