Local Chicagoland Businesses Donate to Marklund

Lemon Loves Lime and Dominick’s Grocery Store were truly into the spirit of giving during these past holidays by donating goods to the Marklund Children’s Home in Bloomingdale and the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva. With the closing of selected stores around the Chicagoland area, Dominick’s donated nine cartons with a variety of party supplies (balloons, decorations, etc). Lemon Love Lime donated 15 cartons of clothing for the benefit of the client’s at the Marklund Children’s Home.

“The clients are really going to enjoy the additions to the celebrations of special events such as their birthdays!” stated Britt Johnson-Dunlop, Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional at Marklund’s Hyde Center.

Marklund is a non-profit organization that serves individuals with severe and profound developmental disabilities. The Dominick’s Grocery Store chain has been in the Chicagoland area since 1918, but unfortunately has slowly closed the doors on some of their stores. Lemon Loves Lime crafts girl’s clothing, created for every mother to express their unconditional love and devotion for their daughter(s). Although some of the donations cannot be used by the clients, the donations will be sold at the Marklund Resale Store. The proceeds will help support the clients at both Bloomingdale and Geneva locations.

“I received a call on Christmas Eve from Dominick’s asking if they could donate some extra supplies. Even during difficult times, Dominick’s thought about giving us what they could,” stated Cathy Nikrandt, Volunteer Manager at the Marklund Hyde Center. “Every little bit helps and we couldn’t be more thankful for the gracious donations given to us by Dominick’s!”

“Lemon Loves Lime, located in Carol Stream, donated brand new clothes; consisting of dresses, skirts, top and bottoms, legging and shoes, mostly summer and fall garments,” stated Hilsa Hallihan, Volunteer Manager at the Marklund Children’s Home.  “It was so generous that Lemon Loves Lime thought of Marklund as their charity of choice!”
