Unleashed by Petco Moving into Vacant Blockbuster Space in Hinsdale

Petco's small-space brand will fill the pet-supplies role downtown Hinsdale lost when Busters closed earlier this year.

The owner of the currently vacant Blockbuster Video space near the corner of Lincoln and Chestnut streets in Hinsdale has found a new tenant.

Unleashed by Petco, the well-known pet retailer's smaller-space brand, will open a new location at 30 S. Lincoln St., Hinsdale economic development director Tim Scoot said. Occupying approximately two-thirds of the space, the store will sell pet food and toys as well as training, health and grooming services.

"Our concept is simple—provide the same knowledge and know-how offered by Petco in a unique, smaller package," Unleashed's website reads.

Scott said Unleashed by Petco's arrival comes at a good time, as Busters on 1st Street closed earlier this year.

"We’re excited about still having something that’s pet-centric in town," Scott said.

In related news, another local pet-supplies store, The Modern Dog Boutique in Clarendon Hills, is closing July 27.
