New Downtown Hinsdale Development's 1st Public Hearing Postponed

Garfield Crossing would be the name of the proposed development at Garfield and 1st streets, which will start the village approval process in March before the zoning board of appeals.

Updated at 7:50 p.m.

The Garfield Crossing public hearing was pulled from Wednesday night's Village of Hinsdale Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) agenda, village clerk Christine Bruton said, because only five of seven board members were available to attend the meeting.

The public hearing will likely take place at the ZBA's next meeting on March 20.

Garfield Crossing, as the proposed mixed-use development is named, would sit at 26-32 E. 1st St. and would feature retail on its first floor and office space on its second floor, according to ZBA agenda documents posted to the village website.

The ZBA will hold a public hearing regarding several requests from the builder, including variations regarding a loading area, landscaping, signage and parking.

Illustrations of the proposed development are also included in the ZBA documents.

Tonight's ZBA meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall.

What's your first impression of Garfield Crossing? What kind of retail would you like to see go in there?
