Mariano's Hosts Job Fair in Western Springs This Weekend

Mariano's has not yet announced an opening date for its Western Springs location.

Mariano's is inching toward an opening date in Western Springs. 

Roundy’s, Inc., the parent company Mariano’s, is hosting a career fair this weekend at the news store is welcoming both experienced and entry-level candidates for the future Mariano’s Western Springs team, according to a Edelman press release.

Mariano’s Western Springs is seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds, including the restaurant and hospitality industries, to fill a variety of openings ranging from hot foods/line cooks, department managers, catering and grocery baggers, according to the news release. 

The job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the new Mariano's store, 4700 Gilbert Ave. in Western Springs. Candidates are encouraged to bring resumes. Mariano’s is in the process of filling around 300 job positions at 10 of its newly-acquired Dominick’s stores, including Mariano’s Western Springs.

Mariano's has not yet announced an opening date for its Western Springs location.  Mariano's wrote in a Friday Facebook post that once the opening date had been confirmed, it would be announced on Mariano's Facebook and Twitter pages. 

At the end of last year, Roundy's purchased 11 Chicago-area Dominick's locations that were slated to close at the end of December, including the one in Western Springs.

The 11 Dominick's locations purchased by Roundy's in the $36 million deal were:
  • Park Ridge: 1900 S. Cumberland Ave.
  • Western Springs: No. 14 Garden Market St.
  • Chicago: 3145 S. Ashland Ave.
  • Chicago: 2021 W. Chicago Ave.
  • Northfield: 1822 Willow Rd.
  • Westchester: 3020 S. Wolf Rd.
  • Buffalo Grove: 450 Half Day Rd.
  • Chicago: 5201 N. Sheridan Rd.
  • Gurnee: 6655 Grand Ave.
  • Aurora: 3025 E. New York St.
  • Shorewood: 950 Brook Forest Ave.
The Tribune reported in December the stores were expected to be converted within one to two months of the deal being finalized, which is expected to occur in mid-December.

Mariano's was a popular response among Patch readers who were asked what they'd like to see replace the Western Springs Dominick's after parent-company Safeway announced in October that it was pulling out of the Chicago market.

There are currently 13 Mariano's locations in the Chicago area, according to the Tribune. Five more are currently under construction.
