Hinsdale Clothiers Reopens After Repairing Flood Damage

A grand reopening is planned for Saturday; the business was closed for six weeks' repair after June storms sent a transformer pole through their roof.

Hinsdale Clothiers (777 N. York Road) reopened on Monday, six weeks after suffering massive damage to their interior and stock in flooding near the end of June.

The clothes store will be having a celebration of their grand reopening on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and beverages along with 20 percent off all stock.

“When Mother Nature decided it was time for us to ‘reorganize,’ we rose to the challenge,” the business wrote on their website.

“We’ve repaired, renovated, redecorated, and replaced all of our inventory with the newest, most exclusive formal and casual styles for men. Our merchandise includes new items from Italy, Canada, Sweden, Peru, and the USA.”

On June 24, according to the Doings Hinsdale, the store was damaged when flooding caused a pole containing three transformers to crash through the roof, coating the interior of the store with their insulating vegetable oil. On top of that, rainwater also filled the business, and their whole stock was lost.

“We had to have the store biowashed clean,” owner Steven Potter told the paper at the time.
