Former White Sox Slugger Jim Thome Selling Hinsdale Home

The Peoria native recently bought a home in neighboring Burr Ridge, according to multiple news outlets.

Former Chicago White Sox designated hitter Jim Thome is selling his Hinsdale home and moving to Burr Ridge, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday

The Trib reports that the Thome family is selling their six-bedroom Hinsdale house for $3.8 million after paying $4.6 million for the more spacious seven-bedroom Burr Ridge home.

The Thomes' new two-acre property contains an 8,154 square-foot house built in 2007 and an outdoor tennis court. The home has six full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a home theater, and a seven-car garage.

The 41-year-old Thome is a native of Peoria and played for the White Sox from 2006 to 2009. He is currently in the midst of his second stint with the Philadelphia Phillies. Thome's career began with the Cleveland Indians in 1991. In his 21-plus seasons, he has hit 604 home runs, the eighth-highest total in major-league history, according to Baseball-Reference.com.

CSN Chicago last month quoted White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf as saying that he and Thome had an unofficial "handshake" agreement that when Thome's playing days are over, he'll work for the White Sox in some capacity.
