Hinsdale Center for the Arts Closes

The nonprofit organiziation has served DuPage and western Cook since 1980.

Hinsdale Center for the Arts abruptly closed up shop on July 20 due to financial issues and low enrollment, according to a Doings Hinsdale story published on July 25

The Doings quoted HCA board of trustees secretary Jan Tuthill as saying the board voted unanimously to close on July 18 after a five-hour meeting. Tuthill says in the story that the organization has been operating on a budget in the $700,000 range during fiscal year 2012, a decrease from fiscal year 2008, when the HCA brought in $1 million in revenue.

Tuthill says in The Doings' story that the decision to close is final as of now.
