Welcome Home Parade

The Village of Clarendon Hills Fire and Police Departments are proud to welcome home Spc. Mark Brownlow with a parade at 11 a.m. on Sept. 11. Spc. Brownlow serves in the 656th Transportation Company, 310th Battalion based in Hobart, Ind.

As a civilian, Spc. Brownlow has been a part-time Firefighter since 2003 with Clarendon Hills and full-time Emergency Medical Technician with Hinsdale Hospital. He joined the U.S. Army Reserves in 2005 and was first deployed with the 257th Transportation Company based in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2008. The unit performed with distinction while deploying to Kuwait conducting convoy security missions into Iraq. Spc. Brownlow is returning home from his second deployment to Afghanistan. He was deployed in 2010 with the 656th Transportation Company, members of which sustained injuries in a January 2011 rocket attack in Afghanistan. Spc. Brownlow was not harmed in the attack, and returns home safely to his wife, Lynn Reyrao-Brownlow, and his 3-year-old son, Seth.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. from Plainfield Road and U.S. Route 83. The route will progress west along Plainfield Road to Clarendon Hills Road where it will head north, eventually leading to Prospect Avenue through downtown Clarendon Hills. Clarendon Hills Fire and Police, along with the Warriors’ Watch Riders will escort Mark, family and other returning veterans. We would like to invite all those who would like to support Mark to join us on the parade route or downtown Clarendon Hills as Mark is escorted through town!
Spc. Brownlow awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device for his selfless service, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
The parade will also serve to commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The celebration honors all Soldiers and their families, and the tragic loss of life, including firefighters and police officers, that occurred that day.
