Veterans' Poppy Day Collection Begins Thursday

Watch for the Hinsdale American Legion on Thursday as members hold their annual Poppy Day collection.


The Hinsdale American Legion Auxiliary, assisted by veteran members, will conduct their annual Poppy Day Collection at various locations in Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Burr Ridge on Thursday, May 22. .

The poppies represent of those who have served their country and represent the poppies that grew over the graves of World War I soldiers buried in Europe almost 100 years ago.

All poppies are assembled by veterans in nursing homes and hospitals. The proceeds from the collection are used for veteran and youth programs.

So if you see a vet collecting donations at the train station or in front of the supermarket, donate what you can and wear your poppy proudly on Memorial Day.
