Seniors Invited to 'Renew, Recharge, Reinvent' at Age Well DuPage

DuPage County invites the community to attend Age Well DuPage: Renew, Recharge, Reinvent, a free event for adults 50 and older on Sunday, April 6.

DuPage County invites the community to attend Age Well DuPage: Renew, Recharge, Reinvent, a free event for adults 50 and older on Sunday, April 6. 

DuPage County Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Bob Larsen said this is the second year that the county’s senior services has teamed up with the College of DuPage Continuing Education to host the event.

“The overall goal of the Age Well DuPage event is to provide information to residents interested in maximizing their independence through nutrition and wellness," Larson said in a news advisory. "Attendees will also learn about supportive services and volunteer opportunities that will keep them involved in the community during their retirement"

The Age Well DuPage event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in the Homeland Security Education Center, Room 1022, at the College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

This year’s event is aligned with Money Smart Week and will focus on financial literacy. The guest speaker will be Christine Benz, director of personal finance for Morningstar and senior columnist for Morningstar.com. She co-authored the book titled “Morningstar Guide to Mutual Funds: Five Star Strategies for Success.” Benz will open the event with “Making your money last in retirement – key ways to meet the challenge.”

The event will include a variety of breakout sessions to inform residents about different programs and opportunities offered in DuPage County. The sessions include topics such as:

  • Social Security and Medicare;
  • Money Smart Financial Literacy;
  • One-on-One Financial Planning Consultations from The Financial Planning Association of Illinois;
  • Gardening with Jennifer Brennan of Chalet Nursery and correspondent for ABC Chicago Channel 7 Morning News;
  • Digital Job Search;
  • LinkedIn/Facebook;
  • Volunteering;
  • Tai Chi; and much more.
