Patch Weekend Planner: Hospital Throwing Ice Cream Social

It's one of many things happening this weekend.

We’ve got the best bets for when the work week is over and you're ready to get out. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

1. ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Where/When: 3-6 p.m. Sunday at , 30 E. Chicago Ave, Hinsdale.
Why Go: The Hinsdale Hospital Medical Staff Auxiliary will host “Look What’s Happening in Your Own Backyard,” the 57th Annual . Admission is free; ice cream, Doggie Diner hot dogs, Lucca’s pizza, nachos and beverages will be available for a nominal fee. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s new patient pavilion, targeted for opening in early 2012.
Pricing: Free.

2. WIZARD OF OZ THEATRE-HIKE
Where/When: 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at , 4100 Lincoln Ave., Lisle.
Why Go: "The Wizard of Oz" is performed while  Each theatre-hike presents a different scene at a different location on the Arboretum grounds. Audience members walk to each location to enjoy the unfolding story. Regular hikes, which can cover up to two miles with multiple stops along the way, are on Saturdays, and low-impact hikes (suitable for strollers, walkers and wheelchairs) are on Sundays.
Pricing: $13-$19.

3. YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN
Where/When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday at , 2701 Maple Ave., Downers Grove
Why Go: The Players, Please Theatre musical, based on the comic strip, .
Pricing: $18.

4. FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
Where/When: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m-5 p.m. Sunday at , 645 Lenox Rd., Glen Ellyn.
Why Go: The 42nd annual festival includes a juried fine arts show with free live music all weekend. Sponsored by Glen Ellyn Lions Club in partnership with Community Bank of Wheaton/Glen Ellyn. Food and Drink and kids activities. Benefits GE Lions causes to help the deaf and the blind.
Pricing: Free.

5. COMEDY OF RUM DUM'S AFTER HOURS
Where/When: 9 p.m. Saturday at , 5101 Mochel St., Downers Grove.
Why Go: include Darwin Doobers, Martin Conneely, Aaron Kozbial and Jeff Hansen. For adults.
Pricing: $5 cover, one drink minimum.
