Crash Victim 'Mr. Fitz' Honored In Hinsdale

Hinsdale dad Thomas Fitzsimons was killed in a car crash early Sunday morning in Oak Brook.

The words "RIP MR. FITZ" have been written in blue and orange plastic cups on the fence around the Chicago Avenue bridge that connects Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills, an apparent homage to Thomas Fitzsimons, the Hinsdale dad killed in a car crash in Oak Brook Sunday.

According to an obituary on The Hinsdalean's website, Fitzsimons was a married father of two. His funeral service was held Thursday morning at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Clarendon Hills.

Blue and orange ribbons have been tied around trees all over the west side of Hinsdale and east side of Clarendon Hills.

Fitzsimons was killed early Sunday morning in a one-car accident on Spring Road in Oak Brook. He was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver has been charged with aggravated DUI.

The Doings Hinsdale reports that Fitzsimons and the driver, William Decero, were longtime friends and had been at York Tavern prior to the crash.
