Seniors At The Clare Commemorate Chicago Craft Beer Week

Not a community to miss out on a momentous occasion, The Clare has been preparing for and commemorating Chicago Craft Beer Week which is celebrated May 15-25th.   The goal of Chicago Craft Beer Week is to explore and promote the depth and breadth of local craft beer. “The craft beer craze is exploding and Chicago is at the forefront,” said Brian Hughes, director of dining services of The Clare.  “The residents of The Clare like to be up on all things that are new and exciting, so if there’s a fun trend, we’re on board.”

The Clare The Clare is a luxury senior living community in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast.

Hughes is a self-professed beer-aficionado.  “I stay up to date on beer trends, attending programs and seminars sponsored by different breweries and distributors,” he said.  “I love to share what I know with the residents and they love to learn.”

The Clare’s Beer 101 class held earlier this month, featured the beers from three area breweries. “We focused on Three Floyds Gumballhead, Revolution Brewery’s Anti-Hero and Lagunita’s Cappuccino Limited Edition Stout,” Hughes said. “We talked about the beers, held a Q&A and then toasted. “

Hughes said that each Monday evening, the Beer Group at The Clare, comprised of several men, will share a new beer and have dinner together. “For special occasions we’ll have food pairings, themed dinners and beer flights,” Hughes said.“ We host a lot of fun events such wine dinners and martini parties.  The residents at The Clare are always interested in anything dining related. They are accustomed to eating and drinking at some of the finest restaurants and so we make sure that we bring similar experiences in house to The Clare.”
