Spirito! Singers is holding open auditions for the Spring season of their mens ensemble.  Men of Spirito! is a chorale group composed of men eighteen years of age or older who embrace Spirito’s mission of fostering a love of chorale music through service to the surrounding community.

“We are looking for a few good men!” said Molly Lindberg, Artistic Director of the Men of Spirito.  “If you can carry a tune, I will teach you the rest!”

The Men of Spirito rehearse Tuesday nights at First United Methodist Church in Elmhurst from 7-9 p.m. from September through early December and then again from mid-January through May.  The group has quickly becoming a highly requested performance ensemble for community events, having performed last year at US Cellular Field singing the National Anthem for the Chicago White Sox, the Memorial Day Service at Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park, Elmhurst Relay for Life, and the 125th Anniversary Celebration Concert at Grace Lutheran Church in La Grange.

John Buckley, a returning singer and member of the Board of Directors, reiterated that recent experience is not required.  “I joined the Men of Spirito! so that I could sing with my daughter, who is in the younger girls’ chorus, called Ragazze.  I had not sung in over 30 years, since high school.  I now look forward to rehearsal for its own sake.  It is a great group of guys who join together to make an inspiring sound.   I am honored to sing with them and they are patient to sing with me.”
