Joffrey Professional Division Teacher joins HDA Faculty!

MARCELLA DUCSAY, FROM THE PROFESSIONAL AND TRAINEE DIVISION OF THE JOFFREY ACADEMY, IS JOINING THE FACULTY OF HDA!

Ms Ducsay was accepted in the prestigious Hungarian Dance Academy. During her school years, she was chosen to participate in an exchange at the Vaganova School in St. Petersburg. She also received a full scholarship to NCSA. Ms. Ducsay holds a B.A. in Fine Arts as well as a diploma in kinesiology and the dancer's body.

Ms. Ducsay received her first job with the Hungarian National Ballet. In her first year, she has performed demi soloist and soloist roles. She went on to join the Texas Ballet Theater for 7 years, under the directorship of Paul Mejia and Ben Stevenson. During her time with TBT, she performed Principal roles in: Romeo and Juliet, Nutcracker, Giselle, Cinderella, Serenade, Who cares?, Violin Concerto, Slaughter on 10th Ave, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. She also originated the role of Alice in Trey McIntyre's Alice in Wonderland. 

She has been featured on the Hungarian National Television in a documentary about her life as a dancer. It was also entered into the Australian Film Festival.

Ms. Ducsay has toured internationally to Korea, Japan, Australia.

For the past four years, Ms. Ducsay has been part of the Joffrey Academy in Chicago, teaching in the Pre-Professional and Trainee Division. Her students have been accepted in the following schools and companies: American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Polish National Ballet, Ballet MET, and Texas Ballet Theater.

Ms. Ducsay will be teaching on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for Levels 2- Pre-Professional.
