Foodie 5K presented by Athletico raises more than $90,000 for Northern Illinois Food Bank

More than 1,500 participants, volunteers and sponsors came together to help make the Foodie 5K presented by Athletico a smashing success Saturday at Cantigny Park in Wheaton.

Beautiful weather and the scenic grounds at Cantigny served as a perfect backdrop for Northern Illinois Food Bank’s inaugural run/walk and post-race festival. The event raised approximately $90,000 to feed hungry neighbors.

Matt Kidd, 29, of Huntley took first-place overall in the chip-timed race with a time of 17:40.9. Sangeeta Hardy, 24, of Chicago was the first female finisher with a time of 20:25.3. Others topping their age groups included:

A post-race festival included music, food trucks (Babycakes, Cupcakes for Courage, The Fat Shallot, Toasty Cheese), activities for kids sponsored by My Gym and a special appearance by Ozzie of the Kane County Cougars.
