A new partnership between ArranmoreArts and Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook, creates Bookworm Adventures for kids. Bookworm Adventures brings classical stories to life through interactive performances that engage children ages 5 to 10 and encourages them to become the storytellers. Beloved storyteller, Hans Christian Andersen and his traveling companions bring to life three classic tales: The Princess and the Pea, The Nightingale and The Ugly Duckling on Saturday, August 17.
Each show will have two performances, 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.arranmorearts.org.
Lara Filip, ArranmoreArts Artistic Director said, “Bookworm has always been a labor of love, I find it so interesting that the majority of pop-culture media has roots in these classic stories. I find it’s very fun to see the stories in it's original form.”
Developed by arts and education professionals, Bookworms Adventures is designed to foster a love of classic stories. Each performance features all of the excitement and drama of these tales with audience interaction to engage kids and adults alike. Over the course of 45 minutes, audiences will be swept away on a journey around the world, full of music, dancing and laughter.
Performances will be held at Mayslake Peabody Estate, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's educational and cultural center at 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook.
