Extreme Wind Chills Sticking Around Friday

The National Weather Service has extended its wind chill advisory to 10 a.m. Friday.

A National Weather Service (NWS) wind chill advisory that's been in effect throughout Thursday will stay in effect until 10 a.m. Friday.

Overnight temperatures below zero and sustained winds with gusts of up to 30 mph are expected.

"The combination of very low temperatures and strong winds will cause wind chill values to quickly fall to around 20 to 30 below again by late this evening, and then slowly rebound to 15 to 25 below zero by daybreak Friday," the advisory states.

Friday's high temperature is 26, according to the NWS forecast for Western Springs. Snow is expected Friday night, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible.
