Among residents of Hinsdale, Burr Ridge and Clarendon Hills, Vern Goers Greenhouse is a well-kept secret for landscaping and seasonal greenery. Owner Phillip Goers mans the one-acre nursery with his children. In 1966, the family took over the nursery from the previous owners. Mr. Goers' father and grandfather (Vern and Albert, respectively) were also accomplished growers. Today the family-owned greenhouse is a great resource for annuals, herbs, tomatoes and gardening goods. Year-round, the nursery provides an extensive collection of plants, shrubs and seasonal flowers, most of which are grown on the premises. During the month of May, Sarah Goers designs potters and containers for a nominal cost. A similar service during the holidays includes custom wreaths, garlands and other natural Christmas decorations.
