Edible Book Contest at Clarendon Hills Library

To celebrate our summer reading theme of “Reading is So Delicious!” everyone is invited to enter the Clarendon Hills Library’s first ever “Edible Book Contest” on Saturday, July 28th

What is an edible book?  It’s any representation of a book title that is made primarily from edible materials.  It can be as fancy as an elaborately decorated cake or as simple as a bowl full of grapes (The Grapes of Wrath?).  This is a chance to have fun and be creative.  (For more ideas, just search “edible books” on your computer.)

Awards will be made in the following categories: Children entering 5th grade or younger, young adults entering grades 6-12, college age and up, and families.

Pick up an entry form at the library or download one from the library website, www.clarendonhillslibrary.org.    Entries should be dropped off at the library along with the completed entry form between 11 am and noon on Saturday, July 28th.  The public is welcome to come view the entries beginning at noon, awards will be given out at 3 pm, and then the feasting will begin!

For more information, call the library at 630-323-8188 or log on to www.clarendonhillslibrary.org.

The Clarendon Hills Public library was founded in 1963 by a group of volunteers. Today, volunteers continue to play a large role in its operations. About 35 volunteers currently donate more than 3,900 hours every year to helping with the library's services and programs. Volunteers from all over the community also help maintain the Remembrance Garden outside the library that was made possible by donations and built in 2004.
