In less than a week, Hinsdale police have charged three motorists with driving under the influence of alcohol. Chul H. Kim, 61, 252 Berkeley Dr., Bolingbrook, was stopped for improper lane use at 12:52 a.m. March 30 while going westbound on 55th Street at Garfield Street to Monroe St. Police gave him a field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was charged with DUI, DUI +.08 blood alcohol content and improper lane usage. Police reported stopping Charles C. Weathersby, 28, 1012 N. Theft—Approximately $6,000 worth of scrap metal was reported missing from a Dumpster in the parking lot of Fuller's Car Wash, 109 W. Chicago Ave., Hinsdale. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 7 p.m. March 23 and 6:30 a.m. March 24. Theft—A male victim reported that approximately 40 sections of copper pipe is missing from a home under construction on the 800 block of Taft Road. Illegal dumping—Thirty used motor vehicle tires were found dumped in the parking lot of Firestone Tire, 150 E. Ogden Ave. It is believed the illegal dumping occurred between 7:30 p.m. March 9 and 6:30 a.m. March 11. There are no suspects. The disposal fee for the used tires is $90. Identity theft—A Hinsdale man told police that someone used his identity to obtain insurance quotes with a prepaid credit card. Thefts of gas—No sooner do gas prices start to soar, Hinsdale police report two thefts of gas. The first incident was reported March 6. A man said that gas was siphoned from the tank of his vehicle sometime between 7 a.m. March 4 and 7:30 a.m. March 6 while it was parked on the 5500 block of Madison. The victim, who said his gas tank was unlocked, estimates that 18 gallons of gas worth $65 was taken. In the second incident, police received a report of a woman driving away from the Mobil gas station, 8 W. Chicago, shortly before 6 p.m. March 7 without paying for $39.01 worth of gas. She was …
Battery—Two females attending a party at a residence on the 200 block of north Oak Street, Hinsdale, reported that they were victims at 2 a.m. Sunday when two other females, whom they know, "made contact of an insulting or provoking nature." Criminal damage to property - Hinsdale police report that a homeowner living in the 400 block of N. Elm St. suffered criminal damage to property on Feb. 12, 2011 at approximately 9:33 p.m. Police say an unknown suspect damaged a light fixture that was mounted on a brick post at the front end of the sidewalk of the property. The damage to the light was valued at $100. Harassment by phone - Police say a male victim was the recipient of harassing phone calls the morning of Feb. 13, 2011 at his home in the 100 block of E. 8th St. The victim told police the suspect is known and the harassing …
DUI charges for driver stuck in snow bank- A 55-year old Hinsdale man was arrested for DUI after police discovered his vehicle stuck in a snow bank near the Oak St. Bridge. The incident happened at 8:01 p.m. on Feb.12, 2011. Officers observed Gary F. Lehnert, of 1435 Fox Lane and stated that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Identity theft—A Hinsdale woman reported Feb. 4 that her identity was stolen by someone who attempted to open a Comcast account for a residence in Chicago in her name. She said the theft occurred Feb. 1. Burglary from a business—Gaining entry by damaging the main window with a blunt object, a burglar or burglars got into Shiny Nails, 5823 S. Madison St., Hinsdale, and took $75 from the cash register. The owners said that the crime took place sometime between 6:30 p.m. Feb 1 and 7 a.m. Feb. 3, while the shop was closed because of the recent blizzard. Criminal damage to motor vehicle - At 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 22, a man in a 1999 Pontiac two-door was driving down the 100 Block of North Lincoln, when the driver of a dark, Ford F150 threw a glass object out the window. The object, believed to have been a bottle, shattered the man's T-Top window, causing an estimated $500 worth of damage to his car. Driving under the influence of alcohol - On Dec. 13 at 9:19 p.m., police were called to the scene of an auto accident in the Westbound lane of Ogden Ave. at I294. One of the people involved in the accident Jennifer M. Cordero, 33, of 6182 Pinewood Court in Willowbrook was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. Criminal damage to property - Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 and 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 21, someone damaged a planter and vandalized a garage door on the 100 Block of West 59th Street. The planter was valued at $50, and the estimated damage to the garage door was between $750 and $1,000 to replace.
