The store was open for 19 months in the heart of downtown Hinsdale at 42 S. Washington St.
Savory Spice Shop in downtown Hinsdale closed at the end of April, according to the store's Facebook page. The store at 42 S. Washington St. was in business for 19 months after opening in October 2011 and holding its grand opening the following November. Savory Spice Shop's phone was disconnected when Patch called, and an email to owner David Trout has not been returned. The following message was posted on Savory Spice Shop's Facebook page April 30: Instead let's say until we meet again! Today we open our doors for the last time in Hinsdale. While unemployment throughout Illinois has remained mostly unchanged since February, overall 218,500 private sector jobs have been added since January 2010, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The jobless rate in DuPage County decreased from 8.3 percent to 7.6 percent from February 2013 to March, and is slightly more than the county's 7.2 percent rate from March 2012. Unemployment rates in Illinois were 9.5 percent in March, a slight decrease over February and slightly higher from the same time in 2012, according to new figures released in late April. The Illinois Department of Employment Security generally reports unemployment figures for municipalities with populations of 25,000 or more people. The numbers measure unemployment for residents who live in a certain town, not those who work in the town.
