Doug Fuller said his Dips & Dogs customers often tell him he should open a sports bar in downtown Hinsdale where families can have an inexpensive meal and adults can enjoy a alcoholic beverage or two. A Chicago couple looking for their suburban dream home in Hinsdale will be featured on the May 21 episode of 'House Hunters' on HGTV.
Hinsdale residents who watch HGTV will likely see some familiar sites on the cable channel next week. The May 21 episode of House Hunters will feature couple Amanda and Carl Ivanelli looking at and choosing from three Hinsdale homes, according to the show's website. "Our episode on House Hunters will show off lots of Hinsdale's beautiful sights as well as feature some restaurants," Amanda Ivanelli wrote in an email to Patch. "We decide between three homes in Hinsdale and talk a lot about the community!" Amanda said the filming took place over five days last November. The Hinsdale Historic Preservation Commission has announced the three winners of the 2013 Hinsdale Preservation Awards, who were presented with their plaques at the May 7 board of trustees meeting. For the Good Neighbor award, an at least five-year-old home “whose architectural style is compatible with the existing historic architectural styles present in the surrounding neighborhood,” the winners were Bill and Gina Lowery and their home at 349 N. Oak Street. The Compatible Addition award, for a home older than 50 years “that has undergone a renovation or had an addition completed within the last two years,” went to Jack and Monika Krasuski of 225 N. The store was open for 19 months in the heart of downtown Hinsdale at 42 S. Washington St.
Savory Spice Shop in downtown Hinsdale closed at the end of April, according to the store's Facebook page. The store at 42 S. Washington St. was in business for 19 months after opening in October 2011 and holding its grand opening the following November. Savory Spice Shop's phone was disconnected when Patch called, and an email to owner David Trout has not been returned.
