In our continuing efforts to provide historical background for Hinsdale residents and those folks that are thinking about moving to our town, we are excited to announce that Sandy Williams, longtime Hinsdale resident and former head of our Hinsdale Historical Society, has just published a new book on the history of Hinsdale, featuring many “never before seen” photographs of people and places that have figured prominently in our town’s development. The accompanying text, which is extremely well written, is very interesting and very informative.
Copies of this book, “hot off the press”, are being signed by Sandy at Immanuel Hall, located on the SW corner of Third Street and Grant Street, on March 3rd, Sunday, from 11:00 until 1:00 in the afternoon. The cost of the book is $21.99 and net proceeds benefit the Hinsdale Historical Society. We encourage all interested folks to come visit Immanuel Hall, a renovation project funded and owned by the Historical Society, meet Sandy and peruse this fascinating new book.
Later in the day, Penny and John Bohnen are hosting a wine and cheese reception at their vintage Hinsdale home, (by invitation), where Sandy will again take up her pen and autograph copies of her new book.
Finally, on March 7th, Thursday, Rose and Larry Staat will open their classic Hinsdale home at 417 E. Third Street, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM to host a book signing event, where Sandy and other members of the Historical Society will welcome interested residents and potential residents to tour this magnificently renovated 1895 home and provide commentary on the original construction methods and the massive renovation process that the Staats have recently completed. For those that enjoy classic architecture and the history that accompanies classic Hinsdale homes, this is a must see.
So, for those of you that have a love of history or who want to appreciate and understand more about Hinsdale, please join us at one of these venues. We’re sure you will find it worthwhile and interesting and remember, all net book proceeds go towards funding the many special activities of the Hinsdale Historical Society. Hope to see you !!!
