Name: Rosanna Lederhausen 

Age: 16

Grade: Junior

School: Hinsdale Central High School

Accomplishment: Lederhausen plays on the Hinsdale Central girls' golf team, and also plays competitive golf year-round. She participates in indoor track and winter running at Hinsdale Central, and is a leader of the school's Character Counts program. She also participates in Leap into Africa (a club that raises money for LEAP schools in South Africa) and Devils 4 Devils, which raises money for Hinsdale Central students who can't afford school supplies and other essentials. 

Key to Awesomeness: Lederhausen's participation in school activities has encouraged her to take on a leadership role at Hinsdale Central. "[As a Character Counts leader], I get to plan what we're going to do for the year," she said. Lederhausen's brother helped organize Central's Walk the Walk for Autism when he was in high school, and Rosanna is looking forward to coming up with a new Character Counts fundraising idea in the coming school year.  

Lederhausen also takes an active role in making Hinsdale Central more environmentally friendly. "We try to recycle as much as we can," she said. She also helped improve her middle school's environment when she was younger; the school is now outfitted with solar panels. Lederhausen's family home is also "very environmentally friendly," and she is considering studying environmental science or architecture in college.

What’s Next: Lederhausen is looking at colleges, and said she "definitely wants to play college golf" like her two older sisters and older brother. Although she hasn't narrowed down her list of favorite schools yet, she has looked at Northwestern University, where both of her sisters played. 

Lederhausen is enjoying being an upperclassmen so far. "I like being more of a role model," she said. "Definitely after this year, it's going to be more relaxing." Lederhausen said she likes going to school, and she knows that she's lucky to feel that way. "The people at our school are really nice people," she said. "They have great character. I love going to school and talking to everyone. I know kids at other school don't feel that way, [but at Hinsdale Central] we respect each other."
